Moment of Thanks is not a Political Site
We recognize the controversy surrounding the various military engagements in which America's Armed Forces are involved. We encourage you to engage in discourse about these efforts. However, Moment of Thanks is NOT the forum for such discussions. This website is not about war or the leaders that control it. This website is about the men and women who volunteer to serve their country in the line of duty.
Use Respect in the Community
This site was constructed to honor the troops. Let's approach building the content with this sentiment in mind. This community should be a positive space, free from malicious, abusive, or offensive content including defamation or libel. We do not ask that every Moment of Thanks video, image, or text be somber, however they must all be respectful.
Don't Cross the Line
Here are some common-sense rules that will help you steer clear of trouble:
- Moment of Thanks is not for pornography, nudity, or sexually explicit content. If this describes your text, video, or photo, even if it depicts yourself and no one else, don't post it on the site. Also, be advised that we work closely with law enforcement and we report child exploitation.
- Don't post content showing bad stuff like animal abuse, drug abuse, or bomb making.
- Graphic or gratuitous violence is not allowed. If your content shows someone getting hurt, attacked, or humiliated, don't post it.
- Moment of Thanks will not tolerate videos, photos, or text that are intended to disgust or shock people. Please do not post content depicting accidents, dead bodies and similar things.
- No images of abortions or fetuses, unless they're sonograms.
- Respect copyright. Only upload videos, photos, or text that you made or that you are authorized to use. This means don't upload videos you didn't make, or use content in your videos that someone else owns the copyright to, such as music tracks, snippets of copyrighted programs, or videos made by other users, without necessary authorizations.
- Don't give out personal information on the site, like phone numbers or addresses. Especially avoid financial details, for your own good. Also, please avoid giving out others' contact information.
- There is zero tolerance for hate speech (speech that attacks or demeans a group based on race or ethnic origin, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, and sexual orientation/gender identity). Anything determined to be hateful by the Staff of Moment of Thanks will be taken down immediately, and may result in a ban from the Moment of Thanks website.
- There is zero tolerance for predatory behavior, stalking, threats, harassment, invading privacy, or the revealing of other members' personal information. Anyone caught doing these things may be permanently banned from Moment of Thanks.
- Everyone hates spam. Do not create misleading descriptions, tags, titles or thumbnails in order to increase views. It's not okay to post large amounts of untargeted, unwanted or repetitive content, including comments and private messages.
Please take these rules seriously and take them to heart. Don't try to "get around" them-these rules are not made to be broken. Additionally, the spirit in which they were made is to be respected-that of respect. Violations of the Terms of Use may result in a warning notification or termination of your account. If your account is terminated, you are prohibited from creating any new accounts.
Moment of Thanks is for the Community
Remember that this is your community! Each and every user of Moment of Thanks makes the site what it is, so don't be afraid to dig in and get involved!
- Have fun with the site. There's so much to see. This is a cause that touches many lives, and the result is lots of folks making amazing stuff. Take your time on the site, and really get to know it.

Secrets, Military and Otherwise
Like all sites, Moment of Thanks requests that you NOT upload trade secrets or confidential or sensitive information. However, this site is especially sensitive to the possibility of giving up too much information about our troops. Please avoid giving out the locations of any soldier overseas with any more specificity than country. Potential adversaries are actively monitoring Internet communications, and the careless posting, discussion or e-mail of sensitive or classified information. Even unclassified information, like dates when Service Members return home, can expose more about military plans that we would like to. In terms of specifics, less is more.
The bottom line for service members who are posting on the site, is that anything regarding Military operations, facilities and personnel should be considered with Operational Security (OPSEC) in mind. If there's any doubt about the sensitivity of information contained in the content you wish to post, it's best to err on the side of caution and not include that information. The very last thing we want to do is endanger the troops.
We Review Content Flagged As Inappropriate
When content gets flagged as inappropriate, we review it to determine whether it violates our Terms of Use-flagged content is not automatically taken down by the system. If we remove your message after reviewing it, you can assume that we removed it purposefully, and you should please review our Terms of Use, and try to see it from our perspective. If you find other content on Moment of Thanks with the same violations, please flag it so we can review it as well!
Finally, Moment of Thanks reserves the right to remove any content we consider inappropriate for any reason.
